Active Breathwork Workshop

Join Leah C, certified breathwork facilitator, for an in-person, Active Breathwork practice on April 26, 2025 at 6:30p in Park Slope.

What is Active Breathwork?
Active Breathwork is a repetitive, rhythmic, three-part breath pattern that controls breaths through the mouth. The continuous breath allows for the body to safely activate the sympathetic nervous system to energetically shift and uncover what may need to be moved and released. This powerful and transformative practice is offered as both group and one-on-one sessions. This journey is guided by a rich musical soundscape, and carefully curated to promote healing and safety through trauma-informed practices. The experience offers a unique experience for each practitioner; engaging the body, heart and mind into an altered state of awareness. Ample time and space are provided allowing participants to integrate their experience, and deepen their self-healing.

The breathwork is practiced lying down with the option to set up in a restorative shavasana with blankets, bolsters and eye masks. It is suggested to bring a journal for post-breathwork reflections, and wear comfortable layers since the body may shift in temperature during the experience.

Active Breathwork is safe for healthy individuals. It is not suitable for people who are pregnant, have respiratory conditions such as asthma, experience epilepsy or seizures, or have high blood pressure. If you have any concerns, please consult a healthcare practitioner prior to participating.
