Get to Know: Andrew Pietrobono
How would you describe your class style/what can we expect?
I’d say a peaceful start until we find our breath and set our intention. Then a warm-up with Sun Salutations followed by a lot of traditional and strength-based poses.
Who’s on your playlist?
Indie, dance/electronic and a lot of oldies (but goodies) like Cat Stevens' - Peace Train :)
Where did you grow up and how long have you been in NYC?
I grew up in Wayne, NJ and have been in NYC for about five years after spending my college years in South Carolina and Florida. My relationship with NYC is love/hate…but lately I am in the loving stage - if only we had palm trees it would be pure LOVE.
What’s your favorite hobby/activity (outside of teaching yoga)?
Hiking is my #1. Aside from that, I like to run, bike, and travel. Beach time is the best time!
Any must-visit restaurants or shops in Brooklyn?
My absolute favorite place in Brooklyn is Baba’s Pierogies in Gowanus, I order from here at least once a week. Their Mac & Cheese pierogies are impossible to recreate (I tried) and are truly delicious!
Tell us one thing we would be surprised to know about you…
By day I am an Operations & Systems manager. I am also a certified HR Professional. I like to think of teaching Yoga as using the complete opposite side of my brain. It has proven to be very fun.
